Not just a Hedonist!!

Red Maples Mashal review!

Allrighty!! Its been quite a while since my last post! Life has kept me busy all this while and a series of bizzare events that I really don’t want to recall. Thank heavens I have a bad memory! 😉 you tend to forget past events easily and the grudges 😉 Anyways getting back to my review, well in the past month I

have been to my hometown Indore thrice!! and I think sometimes a city really beckons you,  and that’s what happened to me.  Since it did, why should I not post about one of my favorite resort cum hotel.  Well my reason for liking it is not the food this time, but the picturesque location and it’s beautiful decor! Makes you fall in love instantly!! If you’re looking for a perfect getaway from those hackneyed city hotels, Mashal is the place for you.

About the food:  the taste can’t be described as exceptionally good as the consistency isn’t maintained, but the place makes you forget about it.  If you opt for open seating arrangement, you get to view the whole of Rau (a suburb of Indore).  Also I always prefer eating out in the lawn area, and relaxing by the pool side wooden tents.  Also the kitchen is located at the outdoors,  so it gives you a complete ‘feel’ of the place. I would love to spend my whole weekend here with my friends if i get lucky.  So my suggestion:  if you’re visiting Indore,  Mashal is one place you don’t want to miss.

My just desserts oops! Deserts ;) Review: Angels in my kitchen

Well for this one in particular I need fewer words and more images, because words can’t define this one! The place is “Angels in my Kitchen” ,one of my favorite bakers in Delhi. If you have a sweet tooth and are looking for a good place to indulge: AIMK is just the right place for you. It’s a cosy bakery at Defence colony. For me personally, desserts are more about experimenting with entirely different flavours and yet coming up with something that simply blows your mind away, and this place indeed does.

I have been here twice and am already in love with the place! My recommendations here are: Banoffee pie (top right corner): an exotic combination of banana, cocoa and nuts!Good lord heavens!

and chocolate going nuts(below pic):You’ll surely go nuts about it.

Average cost for two is INR 150.Although i still miss Theobrama, Mumbai and our very own Simi’s Bakery in Indore, but for the time being this is my just “desserts” 😉

The very best of music…

Music. This post took a long time as i was completely confused which amongst my favourite albums will make it to the first “Albums must haves”. Its really a daunting task to select the first one as it has to be exceptionally good in every sense.Personally, i am not biased to any genre of music as long as its a good hear.
So as i was selecting the album i just thought instead of posting some international album, why not my first album be an Indian one, bollywood album (to be precise). The album is OST of movie “UDAAN”.I totally love the film score.

Some compositions are inspiring, and some are liberating, this album is inspiring and liberating at the same time. You feel as if you are in some other dimension wherein the world is yours to conquer,if you dare and if you have it in you.I personally felt the OST was the backbone of this film.Be it the music composition or be it the lyrics, you will find yourself completely lost in it.Amit trivedi, i have no words for this man, he reinvents himself everytime, and he does it excellently.Genius is the word for him,and Amitabh Bhattacharya, kudos to him for penning down the finest lyrics of his time. It may sound very simple but you can experience different emotion in each of his composition, yet the feeling of setting yourself free dominates each.I feel happy to see such talents emerging in India and getting appreciated.

I can go on and on about it but before creating this blog i had planned to make my posts short and succint, so that my readers don’t get bored reading ;).

Nonetheless,i would like to share my favourite lines of the title track “udaan”:

Nadi mein talab hai Kahin jo agar,

samandar kahan door hai

Damakti garaz hai, sone mein agar

To jalna bhi manzoor hai

Ik udaan kab talak yun kaid rahegi

Roko na chod do isse

Ik udaan hi sapno ko zindagi degi

Sapno se jod do isse!

Restaurant of the week : Veda.

So currently i am working in Delhi, its been six months now, since I’ve been here. I am from Indore, and I cannot emphasize how much i miss my city and the food. But then again Delhi doesn’t disappoint either. I feel to get the best of Delhi, you should be willing to spend a lot of moolahs, unlike Mumbai and Indore. I am still exploring the city, and if i find such places i ‘ll surely post them here.

Meanwhile, if you’re willing to spend your moolahs and have a great experience, one place to visit is VEDA. Its located at Connaught place. The ambience is Victorian style and the mirror decor makes it look very exquisite. If you prefer a restaurant for its decor and ambience, Veda is the place to be. The menu is very exclusive and the food is quite good. I won’t say that this is the best i  have had but yes in comparison to Punjabi by nature (which is indeed a rip off), this one is well worth it.I’ll recommend “Paneer Kundan Kaliyan” and ” Daal Veda”, if you’re looking for good vegetarian dish. And for non vegetarians : “Dum dahi murg” is not to be missed.

Cuisine: North Indian

Price: Rs 1200 (avg) for two.

Location: Connaught Place, New Delhi.

Hello world!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

That’s the whole point behind creating this blog, just a documentation of my adventures, misadventures,my passions and the things alike. They say i am a hedonist, and i say i am just an explorer. It seems to be a clichéd statement : “This life is too short, make the most out of it”. But how many of us do that is the question. This blog is not to prove a point that i am doing so, but just so that when i look back 20 years from now i just want to remember that i did attempt to make the most out of it.

I have always believed that life is no different from wine tastings. An event in our life goes through the same phases as that of wine tasting. Look, smell, taste and feel. You need to open all these senses to truly savour the flavor, give in to the sensory pleasures, losing yourself completely. So is with life.So cheers to good wine and good life!!
